Privacy Policy

• Account. Your email address and a password. Passwords are stored only as secure hashes by our authentication provider — we can't read them.
• Profile. A display name you choose, an avatar picked from our built-in set, and an auto-generated friend code.
• Friends and invites. Who you've added as a friend and game invites you send or receive (an invite carries your display name and avatar so the recipient knows who's asking).
• Gameplay. The games you play: tables, seats, bids, moves, and scores. Display names appear at the table and in finished-game records, the way names appear on a scoresheet.
• Push notifications (iOS). If you allow notifications, we store your device's push token so we can tell you about game invites and turns. Declining notifications never blocks any feature.
• Product updates (optional). Only if you tick the opt-in box at sign-up, your email goes on our updates list. You can unsubscribe from any email we send.

We also keep short-lived operational records (server logs and rate-limit counters) to keep the service healthy and abuse-free.

• No advertising, and no data sold or rented to anyone.
• No tracking across other apps or websites.
• No third-party analytics SDKs.
• No data collected beyond what's listed above — there's no hidden telemetry tier.

Smear runs on a small set of infrastructure providers that process data on our behalf:

• Supabase — authentication, database, and realtime game state.
• Vercel — hosting for the website and game API.
• Apple — push-notification delivery (iOS only).
• Mailchimp (Intuit) — the optional product-updates list, only if you opted in.

You can delete your account yourself, any time, from the iOS app: Settings → Delete Account. You can also email us at ping@betaboop.com and we'll do it for you.

Deletion is immediate and permanent: your sign-in, profile, friend links, pending invites, and push tokens are removed. If you're mid-game, a bot quietly takes your seat so the other players can finish. One honest caveat: records of finished games keep the display name that was shown at the table — like a name on an old scoresheet — but they're no longer connected to any account.

Smear isn't directed at children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect data from them. If you believe a child has created an account, contact us and we'll delete it.

If we change what we collect or how we use it, we'll update this page and the date at the top before the change takes effect.
